okay so when i got home two days ago, i turned my pc on and the monitor said, 'no signal detected.'
i tried restarting and tightening the wire connecting the cpu and the monitor but the same things are happening.
i took out my laptop and connected the monitor to it, and it worked...but again, still doesn't work for my cpu.
those technicians out there, what do you suggest i do?

Your video card is just what you plug the monitor into, it's unlikely that you have two of them. If you opened your PC up, it'd look something like this
, or maybe this

just don't confuse it with the sound card (if you even have one) and it's impossible to miss
This could be anything from the monitor's settings being off, to a broken video card, to a... broken motherboard or cpu? The problem is that your display is the thing not working, so it's hard to know what's actually broken.

If you have any other monitor you can connect to your computer and change it then switch back to the original monitor.

Well it's kind of true. You can also set the two monitors up to be a continuation of each other either by width or height, as I'm sure you know.
If you had 2 video cards, you could like... Play crysis on full settings on one monitor, while sculpting a 3d model that has 12 million polygons in zbrush on the other monitor...
DUNNO WHO'S DOING THAT BUT IT WOULD BE IMPRESSIVE!
edit: wait wait wait, chuck norris, the TK, is chu? my mind is blown

Well, if you have another monitor that you can plug into your PC, do that. If you get a display, then the problem is almost certainly a setting, and your video card should be fine... If you plug in another monitor and you don't get a display then it's probably your video card haha.
I mean, I think the only real way to test your video card would be to put it into another PC that is otherwise completely healthy. But, assuming you can't do that, if the video card's fan isn't running, or something else is visibly wrong, you can pretty confidently assume that that's the problem.
Your computer seems to be running fine, right? You just get no display?
